Another Trip Around the Sun — and a Softer Way Back

Birthdays have a funny way of making us reflect.

Not necessarily on how many candles are on the cake — although apparently they’re becoming a fire hazard 😂 — but on where we’ve been, what we’ve walked through, and who we’re becoming along the way.

This Monday, I celebrate another trip around the sun.

And this birthday feels a little different.

The last year has held a lot of change. Loss. Growth. Reinvention. Moments where I felt strong and moments where I had absolutely no idea what came next.

I’ve learned that life doesn’t always give us a neat little roadmap.

Sometimes it asks us to slow down.

Sometimes it asks us to begin again.

And sometimes it asks us to step back into the world before we feel completely ready.

That’s a little bit of what this birthday represents for me.

A soft return.

Not with a huge announcement.

Not with everything perfectly figured out.

Just me, showing up again.

Over the past while, I’ve given myself permission to be quieter. To spend time with the people I love. To reflect on my mom, her influence on my life, and the legacy she left behind. To think about my family, my work, my podcast, CELLebrate Light, and what I want this next chapter to actually feel like — not just what I want it to look like from the outside.

And one word keeps coming back to me:

**Fulfilment.**

Not more for the sake of more.

More meaning.

More laughter.

More conversations that matter.

More time doing the things that light me up.

More courage to say yes when something feels right — and no when it doesn’t.

More appreciation for the ordinary days, because those are usually the ones that become the memories we miss the most.

I think we spend a lot of our lives believing we’re supposed to have arrived somewhere by a certain age.

But I’m beginning to think there is no arrival.

We keep becoming.

We keep learning.

We keep changing.

We lose people we thought would always be beside us. We discover strength we didn’t know we had. We change direction. We rebuild. We laugh again. We dream new dreams.

And somewhere in all of that, we realize that starting over isn’t really starting over.

We bring every lesson, every person, every heartbreak, every laugh and every version of ourselves with us.

So as I step into another year of life, I’m not making a long list of resolutions.

I’m keeping it simple.

I want to be present.

I want to stay curious.

I want to keep building something meaningful.

I want to spend time with the people I love.

I want to keep telling the stories that matter.

And I want to continue creating a life that feels good on the inside — not just one that looks good from the outside.

Maybe that’s what lighting it up really means.

Not being the brightest person in the room.

Not pretending everything is perfect.

But finding your light again and again, especially after the seasons that tried to dim it.

So here’s to another trip around the sun.

To the people who walk beside us.

To the ones whose love continues to guide us even when they’re no longer physically here.

To reinvention.

To fulfilment.

To whatever comes next.

And, of course…

**Let’s Light It Up. ✨**
