Sometimes getting through the day is enough.

If you’ve been following along lately, you already know life has thrown a few lemons my way.

Actually, I think we established last week that at this point I should probably own the entire lemonade stand. 🍋😂

I’m still supporting my dad.

My husband is recovering from his motorcycle accident.

My podcast microphone is sitting there patiently waiting for me. 🎙️

And that beautifully organized September I had planned?

Yeah. That’s gone. 😂

But somewhere in the middle of all of this, I’ve been thinking about something.

Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves to keep everything together?

The Myth of “I’ve Got This”

I’m a pretty independent person.

I like being capable.

I like having a plan.

And I really like checking things off a list.

There’s something very satisfying about saying:

“I've got this.”

But sometimes...

You don't.

Or maybe you do have it—but having it looks very different than you thought it would.

Sometimes “I've got this” means getting through today.

Sometimes it means asking someone else for help.

Sometimes it means cancelling something.

Sometimes it means eating whatever is easiest for dinner and calling that a win. 😂

And sometimes it means admitting:

I'm tired.

That doesn't make us weak.

It makes us human.

Caregiving Changes the Equation

Caregiving has a way of quietly taking up space in your life.

There's the physical stuff—the appointments, meals, medications, driving and helping.

But there's also the mental load.

Did I remember everything?

Is everyone okay?

What happens next?

What am I forgetting?

And when you're caring for people you love, it can become very easy to put yourself at the bottom of the list.

I've learned this before.

Apparently, life thought I needed the refresher course. 😂

Wellness Isn't Always a Workout

For more than 30 years, fitness and wellness have been a huge part of my life.

And I still believe movement matters.

Nutrition matters.

Sleep matters.

Taking care of our bodies matters.

But I'm realizing more and more that wellness is bigger than any workout.

Sometimes wellness is taking a walk because you need ten minutes to yourself.

Sometimes it's sitting outside with a coffee.

Calling a friend.

Laughing.

Sleeping an extra hour.

Saying no.

Or simply taking a moment and thinking:

What do I need today?

Not next month.

Not when everything settles down.

Today.

Maybe We Need to Lower the Bar Sometimes

Not forever.

Just for now.

Maybe the laundry can wait.

Maybe the email doesn't need an immediate answer.

Maybe the workout can be shorter.

Maybe the perfectly planned dinner becomes scrambled eggs. 😂

And maybe the project you've been excited about can sit quietly on the shelf until you have the capacity to pick it back up.

That's where my podcast is right now.

It's not gone.

It's waiting.

And I'm finally okay with that.

This Is Still Living

I talk a lot about living well and healthy aging.

Usually we think about that in terms of exercise, nutrition, energy and taking care of ourselves.

But maybe living well also means learning how to move through the seasons that aren't particularly convenient.

The messy ones.

The exhausting ones.

The ones we didn't choose.

Without expecting ourselves to do them perfectly.

I'm still laughing.

I'm still writing.

I'm still moving when I can.

I'm still building CELLebrate Light.

I'm still dreaming about conversations I want to have behind that microphone.

And I'm still me.

I'm just moving at a different pace right now.

So Here's Your Reminder—and Mine ❤️

You don't have to have everything figured out.

You don't have to keep every ball in the air.

You don't have to be productive every minute.

And you definitely don't have to pretend everything is fine when life feels messy.

Some days, getting through the day really is enough.

Tomorrow we can try again.

And eventually, when the time is right...

We'll pick up the things we've put down.

We'll make new plans.

We'll turn the microphone back on.

And we'll light it up again. 🔥

Until then, I'm taking it one day—and apparently one lemon—at a time. 🍋😂

What is one thing you're giving yourself permission NOT to have together right now?

❤️ Let’s Light It Up.
